John's birthday party

A John Deere Birthday cake for our John

He was cautious at first, as he was figuring out what this cake was all about.

Grandpa John wanted in on the fun too... Showing little John that it was okay to get messy.

And 20 minutes later, he was in it up to his elbows! And check out the tractor in his right hand.

After we cleaned up our little "Incredible Hulk", John spent his afternoon playing in the pool.

Brielle loved the new pool with the slide.

A rainstorm brought us all inside, and John opened his presents...

... but he needed some help from his cousins:).

1st haircut

John's curls were adorable, but we decided it was time for a trim. We'd have to part with the locks sometime soon, so we decided to do it before his birthday party. Tim asked, "How short should I cut it?" I said "Use the longest attachment..."

Here is our John right before Tim brought out the clippers:

There were a few tears during the haircut --mostly from John but his mom was very sad when the curls were gone. I learned that the longest attachment on the clippers wasn't long enough! Here he is playing downstairs after the haircut:
