Walk to Osty's house
John learned how to ride his bike without training wheels this summer, about 2 months after his 4th birthday. He has done a great job, transitioning easily and quickly! One bike ride the kids really enjoy is from Grandma Carol's house to Osty's house. Brielle outgrew her 12 inch wheel bike and loves her new 16 inch bike (especially because it has a basket).
At Osty's house, they love jumping on his trampoline...
And swinging on his swing.
The kids learned from Osty what an "underdog" was :)
Osty also has a popcorn maker and has offered the kids popcorn. One time John told us, "It's even better than Wahlert's popcorn." :)
John's mohawk
John's hair got pretty long, making for a great mohawk after his bath.
We did a mohawk one morning after a shower too, and I even put some hairspray in it, and the mohawk lasted several hours. John liked touching the mohawk and thought it "felt sharp."
Welcome, Louis!
On July 30th, a new baby cousin surprised us all by arriving a couple weeks early.
Louis Matthew was born to Tim's brother, Matt & his wife Natalie.
When we visited him in the hospital, there were several other cousins visiting too!
Brielle & Louis
Ted & Louis... future playmates, 4 1/2 months apart in age.
Ted, 4 1/2 months
Ted has been a very happy & easy going baby boy. We love him to pieces.
Brielle says to people, "If you smile at him, he will smile at you." :)

Chicago- How to Train Your Dragon LIVE
The main reason for our trip to Chicago was to see the "How to Train Your Dragon LIVE Spectacular Show." It was an amazing performance and 100% worth the trip. Every one of us -- kids and adults-- really liked the show. Here are the kids with Grandma Carol & Grandpa Ted before we caught a ride on the shuttle from our hotel... and then a photo at the United Center in front of the famous Michael Jordan statue.
Brielle & John with some fun souvenirs :)

Ted slept through the first half of the show... but he watched the second half! There were flashing lights, fire, and flying dragons to keep his attention :)
Chicago- Shedd Aquarium
At the end of July, we went to Chicago for some fun.
We spent a morning at Shedd Aquarium with Grandma Carol & Grandpa Ted.
We ate lunch overlooking Lake Michigan. The kids enjoyed Jellyfish cookies for dessert. Ted napped throughout lunch... perfect :)
Brielle took a TON of photos... like every fish she could. A few turned out pretty awesome!

Throwing coins & making wishes on our way out :)
Ball Diamond Tattoos
There was a Family Picnic Day at the Ball Diamond with food, games and other activities earlier this summer. The face painting turned into a "free for all" as all the kids helped paint each other. They had a blast and came home with at least 6 tattoos each :)
Nature Center
Tim took John & Brielle to a local nature center for a program about snakes & reptiles. Brielle took along our pocket camera and took literally 100+ photos... of all the photos on the wall, the taxidermy animals, etc.
But here's a great one Brielle took
(Grandma Carol, you might not want to look at the bottom left part of this photo!)
Timber Lake 2012
We had a great vacation to Timber Lake with all the Bernings again this year.
John and Brielle were at a great age as they are becoming much stronger swimmers and becoming more independent. Ted enjoyed his first family vacation too.
It's hard to choose just a few favorite photos from our 500+ photos!
But here they are :)
Tim directed some fun games, as always.
The kids are so lucky to grow up with wonderful cousins :)
